Funeral services for Rebecca Jane Dillon Fortenberry, 88, were Dec. 18, 1998, at Capps Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Douglas Lee and Rev. Mike Sutton officiating.
She died Dec. 16, 1998, at Walthall General Hospital.
Mrs. Fortenberry was a seamstress and a member of Union Baptist Church.
Featured in a 1992 Times article, Mrs. Fortenberry said she walked to work at the old Hapel's plant for 23 years until her retirement at age 62.
She was born Sept. 15, 1910, at Tylertown, daughter of the late Marion and Maggie Irene Morris Lee. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank K. Dillon.
Survivors include five children, Buster "Buck" Dillon, Irene Dillon Magee, Joyce Dillon Fitch, Wanzie Dillon Yates and Ava Dillon Brumfield; Debbie Smith, a granddaughter who she reared as a daughter; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Roger Breeland, Jonathan Smith, Bobby Magee, Allen Magee, Jamie Bridges and Jeremy Parham.
Honorary pallbearers were Brian Magee and Bradley Magee.
Burial was in Morris Cemetery with Capps Funeral Home in charge.
