ROCK SPRING — Idella Simmons Ramey, 84, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at her home.

She was born August 20, 1924 in Rockwood, Tenn., to the late William and Hattie Swafford, and was preceded in death by her husbands, Orvil Simmons, William Ramey; brothers, Wheeler and Ebbie Hinch, Sam, Amos and Doyle Swafford; and sister, Arvie Simmons.

Survivors include her 12 children, Ann Prevatt, of Carrolton, Ga., Paulette and Austin Liles, of Rock Spring, Terry Simmons, of Chattanooga, Jim Simmons, of Rock Spring, Anita Murphy, of LaFayette, Vernon "Cotton" Simmons, of Villanow, Bob and David Simmons, both of LaFayette, Lynn Kiessling, of Douglasville, Ga., Jackie Simmons, of Carrolton, Levon "Doodle Bug" Ramey, of Chickamauga, Cissy Ramey, of Naples, Fla.; sisters, Violet Swafford, of LaFayette, Polly Whaley, of Woodstation; 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Paul Bailey officiating.

Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 1 to 9 p.m., Friday all day and Saturday until funeral time at the funeral home.
