The Work Of Death.
Miss Mary M. Baer, one of the most highly respected ladies of this city, was found dead sitting in her rocking chair yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock, at her residence, East Patrick street. Dr. Wm. C. Johnson was summoned and it was found that she had died from heart failure. Her death was totally unexpected as she had apparently been in good health all of yesterday and was engaged just prior to her death, in cutting aprons and and making clothes to be distributed among the poor of Frederick. Her two sisters, Misses Charlotte and Harriet Baer, were in the room at the time, but the hand of death was laid so gently upon her that they were not aware of its presence. Miss Baer was one of the most indefatigable workers in All Saints Episcopal church and was known far and wide for her charity and kindness to the poor. She was formerly the president of the Chinese League and a member of the Dorcas Society, the Pastoral Aid Society and other organizations connected with the Episcopal church. Miss Baer was a daughter of the late Prof. William Baer. She is survived by three sisters. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 10 30 o'clock, from the family residence, interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
