THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, December 15, 2005.

Dorothy Arlene Adduci, 88, of Story City, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City. Vistiation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church with the family present from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Story City Cemetery.

Dorothy Ahrens was born Dec. 7, 1917, in Boone County, the oldest child of Stella and Herman Ahrens. She graduated from Story City High School in 1935 and from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines in 1937. Follower her graduation, she worked for the Great Western Insurance Company in Des Moines and later at the Washington National Insurance Company in Evanston, Ill. She married John Adduci May 24, 1942, in Story City. They were married for 60 years. She was a member and past president of Chapter FZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and an active member of the Grace United Methodist Church where she was baptized, confirmed and married. In addition, she served as the first church secretary and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by two children, Douglas Adduci and his wife, Janet, of Portland, Ore., and Carolyn Raymond and her husband, Scott, of Ames; four grandchildren, Karl Raymond of St. Michael, Minn., John Raymond of New York, N.Y.; Michael Adduci of San Jose, Calif., and Katie Tanner of Rockvale Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Karson Scott Raymond of St. Michael, Minn., and Jackson David Tanner of Rockvale, Tenn.; and two sisters, Velda Ambos of Harlingen, Texas, and Ardith McDonald of Milledgeville, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Marvin Ahrens; one sister, Naomi Larson; and one nephew, Peter John Larson.

Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church in Story City or to Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
