Fay Darold Allen, 86, died on Sept. 7, 2008, at his home in Guernsey.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1921, in Chadron, Neb., the son of Fay and Elizabeth (Joralemon) Allen.
In 1937 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps.
He worked on the roads for the Scottsbluff National Monument.
He left the Corps in 1938 after which he drove truck for his father.
On May 1, 1942, he married Evelyn L. Myers.
He served in the Pacific Theater during WWII, and ultimately retired with the rank of Sergeant Major in 1981.
He had a dream and in the early 1970s, he fulfilled that dream when he orchestrated and built the Guernsey Mobile Home Park in Guernsey.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn; daughters and their spouses, Sandra Eddy of Lynden, Wash., and Lorraine Holliday of Corvallis, Mont.; son, Vernon Allen and his wife of Guernsey; two grandsons; three granddaughters; one brother, Paul Allen and his wife of Carthage, Tenn.; and sister, Gwen Collins and her husband of Dalton, Neb.; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Robert and Alfred.
Cremation has taken place.
Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
