FUNERAL RITES FOR ROY ABBOTT HELD THURSDAY
Idabel, Okla., -- Funeral rites for Frederick Roy Abbott, pioneer Idabel attorney, were conducted at 3 o'clock in the First Methodist church here Thursday afternoon.
Rev. Thomas Webb, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiated. He was assisted by Rev. R.R. Craig, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church.
Burial was in the Denison cemetery under the direction of the Coffey Funeral Home.
Mr. Abbott, a justice of the peace, died Tuesday afternoon at his home from pneumonia. He had been ill only a few days.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Miss Doris Abbott, a student at Oklahoma A. and M. college, and Mrs. J.W. Wheeler, Atoka; three sisters, Mrs. J.K. Redman, pampa, Texas; Mrs. Huie Parker, and Mrs. Willie Fancher,
both of McCauley, Tex; five brothers, R.J. Abbott, Clarkson, Wash., A.M. Abbott, Wichita Falls, Tex., H.H. Abbott, McCauley, Tex., and C.M. Abbott, Treascote, Tex., his step-mother, Mrs. J.M. Abbott, McCauley, Tex., and
three grand-children, Jon Michael, James Frederick and Robert Wesley Wheeler, all of Atoka.
Mr. Abbott, a well-liked and respected man, was born in Roby, Texas, and had lived in Idabel for 28 years.
He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the Idabel Blue Lodge, No. 264, A.F. and A.M. He was active in Masonic activities. Abbott was a member of the First Methodist church.
