Mrs. Akin was born November 2, 1901, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma passed away Friday, October
3rd, 1957, in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was a daughter of the late U. G. and Susie
Pappan Hutchinson and had lived in Shawnee since 1929. She was a member of St. Paul's
Methodist Church; Murrow Chapter No. 464, Order of Eastern Star, member and past
president of the American Legion Auxiliary; White Shrine; Gold Star Mothers; member of W.
S. C. S. of St. Paul's Methodist Chruch and also member of the choir for 25 years; member
of Federated Music Club and Sorosies Club.
A son, Captain Rollin Akin, was killed in action during the Korean War.
Survivors include her husband, L. D. Akin of the residence, a son, M. Sgt. Robert Grant
Akin, Perrin A. F. B., Sherman, Texas, a granddaughter, Karen Akin, Sherman, Texas; and
five brothers, Chas. V. Hutchinson, Arkansas City, Kansas; Carlos Hutchinson, Arkansas
City, Gene Hutchinson, Seattle; Frank Hutchinson, Arlington, Virginia, and John L.
