Margaret Esther Berry was born in Dallas, TX on December 15, 1949. She is the eldest of 11 children born to Edward and Esther Berry. Margaret grew up in a family where love of God, family and human kind were values for daily living. Her parents were active in the church and community where teaching preaching, and serving others was second nature.
As a preacher's kid, Margaret learned to serve and work in the church. Under the instruction of her parents, Margaret sang in the church choir and led Bible studies. She learned how to worship and praise God at an early age. When she was 12 years old she learned the power of prayer. When she had four younger brothers and her mother was pregnant for the 6th time, she prayed for a sister. God honored her prayer and sent her twin sisters. Margaret shared her testimony of God answering her prayers for a sister to anyone who would listen.
After graduating from North High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Margaret began working for A T&T, which led her to a job transfer and move to San Francisco, California. After the move she immediately connected with extended family and found a church home where she continued to serve on the usher board and as a choir member.
Margaret was always a role model and mentor to younger women. She was an advocate for education and served as Chairperson over her church Scholarship Committee. Margaret led by example in returning to school and obtained both a Bachelor and Master's Degree.
Margaret was always available for her younger siblings. Over the years her siblings would visit her and were all blessed and enriched by her unselfish love, wonderful words of wisdom, and Godly counsel. She was a proud and devoted mother and grandmother, and she passed on her love of God and family to her off spring. Even through her time of affliction Margaret continued to mentor others by sharing kind words and smiling outwardly all while she was hurting inwardly.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Edward Berry Jr. She leaves to mourn her passing daughters: Jennifer Morris and Arlena Harrison (Kennie); grandchildren: Dejah, Dominique; Kennie III, and Kayden; three sisters: Carolyn Maxie of Dallas, TX; Karen Wilson of Jacksonville, FL; and Sharon Henderson (Luther) of Minneapolis, MN; six brothers: Donald Berry (Bernetta); Charles Berry (Julie Rae); Robert Berry of Minneapolis, MN; John Berry (Julie) of Columbia, MD; Timothy Berry (Julie Ann) of Waconia, MN; and Douglas Berry (Tammye) of Friendswood, TX; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
