Herman W. Biggers, Sr.
September 16, 1923 – January 7, 2013

Herman W. Biggers, Sr., 89, passed away January 7, 2013, at Regency at The Park, 420 SE Myra Road, College Place, Washington.

Herman was born September 16, 1923, in Council Hill, Oklahoma, to Fred Cleo and Sarah Agnes Phillips Biggers. He served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946 during WWII. When he came home, he built a house, even making his own bricks, for his mother. He finished high school and on the GI Bill completed a business degree in accounting from Modesto Junior College.

He married and started his family then was called up by the US Navy in 1951 and served on the USS Rendova during the Korean War. Following discharge again, he had various jobs and found himself working for the Housing Authority in Benicia, California. He gave up that very good job to move to Graton, California to put his children in a Christian school, Pacific Christian Academy. He was very active in the Church of Christ, becoming a deacon and treasurer. He was a strong Christian and example for his family. He served as a volunteer firefighter for three years. He was Postmaster in Graton, California, retiring in 1980 due to his health.

He moved to Hughon, California and took care of his mother and mother-in-law until their deaths and then cared for his wife, Ruby, until her death in 1991. He remarried and moved to Texas for 19 years until June, 2012, when the family moved him to Eagle Springs in College Place until his passing.

Herman is survived by two daughters: Constance M. Waite of Walla Walla and Sharol Ann Helton of Riverbank, California; his son, Herman W. Biggers, Jr. of Arvada, Colorado; his sister: Josephine Haggerton of Wheaton, Illinois; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Nell Biggers, his son, Anthony Eugene Biggers, and his wife, Eva May Biggers.
The graveside service and interment was Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Turlock Memorial Park, Turlock, California. Charles Cook officiated.
