George was the son of Alonzo Milton Custer and Serena Jane Duncan. He married Mary Effie Goodwin 23 May 1905 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Was superintendent of McJunkin Supply Company, member of the Masonic Lodge, hunter, and expert game cook.
