Dolores Ann Rowen Brown, 82, of Dalton Gardens, Idaho, died June 19, 2007, at Kootenai Medical Center.
A memorial service was held Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Dolores was born April 30, 1925, in Wessington, S.D., to Frances and Alexander Rowen.
After completing high school, Dolores obtained her teaching certificate in Mitchell, S.D., and taught in a local one room school. While visiting friends in Seattle, she met Navy Lt. Avery Brown and they married in Bellingham, Wash., in 1945. After WWII, Dolores and Avery moved to Moscow, Idaho, where Avery attended the university.
Upon graduation, they moved to Odessa, Wash. Dolores and Avery lived in Spokane and Worley while raising their five children, but eventually retired to Dalton Gardens.
Dolores loved to spend time out of doors gardening and was active in the local amateur radio club. Dolores loved her children, and from diapers, to scraped knees and broken bones, to braces, science fairs and school teas, through high school and college graduations, she was always there encouraging and coaxing each child. Dolores enjoyed music, singing, dancing, sewing, cooking for family and friends, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She and Avery also enjoyed traveling with the "whole" family, which more often than not included one or two pet dogs. Dolores was also very proud of celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary in February. Dolores will always be remembered for putting family first. She never missed a birthday, anniversary, holiday or other special occasion to send a gift or card.
She is survived by her husband, Avery; her children, Sharyn, Lynda, Michael, Daryl and Dennis; her grandchildren, Stephanie, Cynthia, Christine, Megan, Kimberly, Gavin, Nathan, Andrew, Sasha, Spencer and Connor; great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicholas, Anna, and Leah; a sister, Rosina Yager; and brothers Ken, Ed and Gene Rowen.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Lucille.
