Richard E. Alban, 83, of Twp. Rd. 72 Morral, died at Fairhaven Health Care Community at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2007. He was born on Oct. 26, 1923 in Nevada to Ray R. and Rena (Gongwer) Alban. They are both deceased.
He married Maxine L. Hawk on Dec. 22, 1944 and she survives. He has one son, Gary L. Alban, Nevada, one grandson, Brian (Angel) Alban, Harpster, a great granddaughter Konner and a great grandson Karson. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Alice Bils and Sharon Thibaut.
He was a member of the Harpster United Methodist Church where he served on the church board. Mr. Alban graduated from the Harpster School in 1941 and was a WW II United States Army Veteran serving in the infantry. He was a life long Antrim Twp. grain and livestock farmer where he operated a dairy for 28 years. Mr. Alban was the past president of the Wyandot County Farm Bureau. He served on the Wyandot County Soil and Water Conservation Board and the Harpster School Board.
He enjoyed woodworking, making and planting his "grain-bin" flower bed along St. Hwy. 23. He liked traveling especially to Europe and several California OSU Rosebowl games. He also enjoyed snowmobiling in northern Michigan. For many years he helped with the Fun With Farm Bureau Events at the Wyandot County Fair.
