Was a 50 year resident of Glen Burnie. Born in Washington D.C.. member of the Merchant Marines transporting ammunition during WW2. Truck driver for National Bohemian for 26 years. member of Pascal Senior Center, Carol's Western Wear friday night music, and El Bethel Church in Pasadena. he enjoyed playing horseshoes,country music, and playing harmonica.
Preceded in death by wife of 51 years, Phyllis Helphenstine; and two sons, Clinton helphenstine and James Helphenstine Jr.
Survived by two sons, Donald Helphenstine of My. Olive, N.C. and Clifton Helphenstine of Baltimore; two daughters, Scherry Belz of Stewartstown, PA., and Frances Helphenstine of Glen Burnie; one sister, Edith Wyman of Richmond, VA.; 20 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.
