My grandma Tillie came to the United States from Denmark at age three with her mother and some of her siblings. She married Carl Oberg in 1925 and they settled in Oakland California. Botilda and Carl had two children, Margaret (my mom) and Robert, now both deceased. Botilda's husband Carl (my grandfather) died in 1958. Her daughter Margaret in 2005 and son Robert in 2006. Botilda had several grandchildren and eventually went on to have several great grandchildren. Grandma was a wonderful cook. She made the best Danish cookies and homemade raspberry jam ever. I so loved going to her house and spending time with her. Her back yard was like a little garden right out of a fairy tale. She in fact, passed away in her beloved garden among her beautiful flowers that she so tenderly cared for. Grandma was also lucky in her life time to have visited several countries when she traveled. Botilda or "Tillie" as she was referred to, was a little lady of 4'11, but had such a big heart. Many of her grandchildren thought of her as a second mother. She was deeply loved and is very missed. She was my special little grandma...
