Steve J. Bobski, 93, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home, with his wife by his side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 30, at Christ the King Catholic Church, KCK. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, KCK. Friends may call 5-7 p.m., Friday, at Joseph A. Butler & Son Funeral Home, 19th & Minnesota Ave., KCK, where the Rosary will be said at 6 p.m.
Steve was born on Sept. 2, 1918 in Purdy, MO to Frank and Mary (Czneski) Bobski. Steve worked on his parents farm until moving to KCK in 1937. His first job was at Brunk's Lumberyard, before taking a job with Manor Bread, where he sold and delivered bread by horse and wagon, when bread was only 9 cents a loaf. Steve went to work for Phillips Petroleum Co. on Feb. 2, 1942, working there as a machinist craftsman before he retired on Sept. 2, 1982.
Steve was a member of OCAW Local 5-604. He was a member of the Polish American Citizens Club and was a member of Christ the King parish for 65 years.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters. He leaves his wife, Mary (Jaster), his loving wife of 73 years; three children, James (Gloria) Bobski, Blaine, WA, Donald (Laura) Bobski, Shawnee, Ks. and Gary (Linda) Bobski, KCMo, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
