Lenore E. Ames, 92, Astoria, died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital, Rushville. She was born April 11, 1910, in Adair, the daughter of David and Rosella (Schisler) Sullivan. She married Robert A. Ames March 1, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death March 27, 1993.
She is survived by one nephew, Donald Ames, Table Grove; and seven nieces, Norma (William) Hammond, Pekin, Sharon (Charles) Evans, Pekin, Mary Hummer, West Burlington, Iowa, Linda Conley, Dellwood, Mo., Janet Desideri, Cicero, Wilma Fitch, Bushnell, and Bernita Arnett.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Sullivan; and one niece, Rose Gamm.
She was a schoolteacher in rural Astoria area schools, including the Crossroads School, for several years She was a member of Astoria Church of the Brethren, where she served as Sunday school teacher and church clerk for many years.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Shawgo Memorial Home, Astoria, with Pastor Gary Schultz officiating. Interment was in South Fulton Cemetery, Astoria.
