Lucy was the first pet my husband and I got together. She was rescued when a thoughtless person left his pregnant cat behind when he moved. She had three kittens and Lucy was the only female. She was so tiny when we brought her home that she couldn't step into the litter box. We had to use a shoebox lid as a temporary litter box so we wouldn't have accidents!
She was named after Lucy from the Peanuts cartoon, because she was such a stinker. She's just the type that would pull the football away at the last second!
Lucy had many wonderful kitty traits and was loved by everyone who knew her. She loved to race you into the bathroom and sometimes clunked her head on the door if you didn't get it shut quickly enough. She would lie outside the bathroom door when you were in there and try to fit her paws underneath, hammering away until you gave up in exasperation and let her in. She loved to snuggle with her momma (me) at night and would wait at the bedroom door as I was brushing my teeth so she wouldn't miss her "spot" on my side of the bed.
Lucy died suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, May 27, 2005. She greeted my husband at the door when he got home from work, as she always did. Within 2 hours, she was dead. I found her on the floor of our bedroom. We don't know why she was taken so soon, she had just visited the vet a few months before and was in perfect health.
Her presence is truly missed and her absence has left a deep void in our lives. We still expect her to come around the corner and rub up against the wall when we walk in the door, I still expect to see her curled up in the middle of our bed. I'll miss her high-pitched "meow" and the way she used to announce herself when she walked into a room.
You're with the angels now, my little star in heaven. Shine on baby...shine on...we will be together again...

Hi pretty girl! I was just thinking about you and thought I'd visit your "grave". I still have your ashes tucked safely on the shelf in my bedroom. Your sister Roxy reminds me a lot of you, but nothing will replace you in my heart. Miss you Lucy-loo.|
