He was born Feb. 6, 1936, in New York City, New York. He was a plumber for the Sierra Sands Unified School District. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957. His family says this about him: "Kurt had many activites -- but this main one was taking care of his family. One of his favorite things was to make someone smile or laugh once a day. He loved life and his family.
He will be missed dearly, but his biggest wish was to be reunited with his wife. Now his wish came true. A great Father and Grandfather, and best friend to everyone.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Elizabeth, on March 19, 1997.
He his servived by sons, Glen Barthel of Ridgecrest,
Gerald Barthel of Anderson,
Mathew Barthel of Ridgecrest and
Kyle Barthel of Inyokern, daughter
Terri Barthel of Ridgecrest, and
grandchildren, Artemio, Donovan and Christopher Barthel.
