Ira G. Bowman, 69 yrs. old, well known resident of Colfax, died at his home here this morning at three o'clock. He had been ill two weeks and death was caused by heart disease.
Born at Jamestown, Dec. 5, 1869, Mr. Bowman was the son of Jacob and Priscilla Bush Bowman, pioneer residents of that community.
He was twice married, his first marriage taking place in 1888 with Eva Tanner, who preceded him in death in 1895. On Jan, 29, 1898, he was wed to Ida Morrison, who survives.
Mr. Bowman was a member of the Manson Christian church and had been a resident of this community for the past thirty-eight years.
Surviving besides the widow are two sons, Bert, of Indianapolis, and Carl of Alvin Mich., a sister Mrs. Lee Taylor of Clark's Hill and three brothers, Marion of Wingate, Joyce [Joshua] of Lafayette and R. P. Bowman of Shelbyville, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Williams and Coyner funeral home in Colfax with the C. C. Cole of the Colfax Christian church in charge. Burial will be made in the Union cemetery three miles south of Clark's Hill.
