Laura Thompkins Adams was the teacher of a one-room school in Milstead, Georgia for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Rock Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, Conyers, GA. She resided in Conyers, GA and drove her horse and buggy from Conyers to Milstead, GA (about six miles round trip) daily. She had one son, Charles Adams and two daughters, Christine Adams Chappell and Nettie Julia Adams Wilkes (b. Jan 5, 1906, d. Nov 16, 1995) who was the wife of Bishop William R. Wilkes, Sr (Prelate of the 13th Episcopal District of the A.M.E. Church).
Funeral services for Laura E. Adams were held at Rock Temple A.M.E. Church in Conyers, Georgia on February 14, 1981.
