George Withrow was one of the five children of Isaac and Mary Withrow. The others were John, Ardelia, Lula, Roy and Helen. (see group family photo, including George as a tiny child; he's also shown in close-up.) Helen died in infancy but the others all grew up to live full lives as adults. On October 17, 1914, the Rev. J. H. McMillen officiated as George married Mary Catherine Voelker, who was born September 3, 1885 in Petoskey, Emmet County, Michigan. The couple had no children. Mary -- who doesn't look particularly cheerful in the photo at right of her with George -- died August 29, 1972 in Delhi, Ingham County, Michigan, of acute myocardial infection brought on by two years of chronicarteriosclenotic heart disease. As both Mary and George died less than a month apart, one wonders if their deaths were somehow connected.
