Mrs. Mary Bridges, 84, who died at her home, 489 Columbia St, September 22, was the wife of the late John B. Bridges, early Portland building contractor, and the mother of five children who now live in the city. Her husband erected the Meier & frank building, Union Station, Dekum building, local drydocks and a number of early buildings that were well known in their day. Mrs. Bridges was born in the year 1839 at Oxford, England. In 1868 she married Mr. Bridges, who died in 1912. The couple emigrated first to Wellington, New Zealand, from whence they came to Portland in 1880. The children are J.G. Bridges, Jr., Fred B Bridges, Lottie E. Koehler, widow of the late Dr. George F. Koehler, William Bridges and Bert Bridges.
