ADAMS, Darrell Bruce "Pappy - 59, Lake Echo. It is with broken hearts we announce that Darrell passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 24, 2008. He was surrounded by his loving family he called his three angels. Born in Halifax on July 2, 1948, he was a beloved son of Mary Adams (Landry) and the late Donald Adams. He will be missed dearly by his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Barbara (DeMone); daughters, Angela (Craig), Bedford, and Sherry, Dartmouth; grandson, Justin "Little Buddy"; sister, Linda (Rick) McNaughton; brother, Donald (Shelley); nieces, Roseann, Shannon, Amanda, Katie, and nephew, Bobby. Darrell was employed at Westinghouse Canada for 20 years as a machinist. After its closing he returned to NSIT to graduate with his CNC Machine Trade and worked the past 10 years as a technician at Dalhousie University in the Department of Process Engineering and Applied Science. He took great pride in his work and spoke highly of the engineering students he assisted, and they of him. Follow the whistling and you could locate Darrell. He was known for his quick wit and good humour. He was a great listener and confidant. Darrell's most prized possession was his family. He was a kind, gentle man, a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. He loved music and played several instruments. Camping played a large part in his life, where he enjoyed playing the banjo around the many campfires with his friends. Darrell was a big kid at heart. He collected remote control cars, planes and helicopters. When anyone needed a bike adjustment or advice, Darrell's door was always open; he was known as "Mr. Fix It". He will be greatly missed by his "basement buddy", Ray. Darrell also loved to travel with his wife and was accompanied by his special friends Debbie and Don. Darrell's family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all who participated in his care, especially his family physician, Dr. Edith Lafleur; palliative care team Sue and Ruby and the VON for the their medical and emotional support. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. A Memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 1 p.m., Rev. Patricia Malin officiating. Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
