Wounded, contusion, 12/13/1862 in 2st Battle of Fredericksburg; admitted into C.S.A. General Hospital, Charlottesville, VA.; transferred 12/18/1863 to C.S.A. General Hospital, Lynchburg, VA.
Present on Jan & Feb and March & April 1863 Rolls.
Mortally wounded 5/3/1863 in Battle of Chancellorsville, VA.;
admitted into Winder Hospital, Richmond, where he died.
Widow filed Settlement Claim on 8/10/1863; found due $24.40.
The 1st Regiment South Carolina Rifles, known as Orr's Rifles, was organized at Sandy Springs, South Carolina, in July, 1861. Its members were recruited in the counties of Abbeville, Pickens, Anderson, and Marion.
