Company K "Burke and Catawba Sampsons", 35th North Carolina Infantry, Ransom's Brigade, Johnson's Division, 4th Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.

Enlisted on 5/1/1862, he was mustered into "K" Co. NC 35th Infantry as a Private; paid $50 Enlistment on 6/15/1862.
Promoted to 4th Corpl 9/1/1863.
1/1864 Reduction to ranks, Private.
Hospitalized Richmond, VA.; died of typhoid pneumonia.

The 35th Infantry Regiment completed its organization in November, 1861, at Camp Mangum, near Raleigh, North Carolina. Its members were raised in the counties of Mecklenburg, Onslow, McDowell, Moore, Chatham, Person, Union, Henderson, Wayne, and Catawba.
