98, Bradenton, transitioned from labor to reward on August 15, 2013. She was born in Gainesville FL; completed high school in Manatee County. Velma completed Cosmetology school in Tampa and was the owner and operator of her own beauty shop. Velma loved life and people. She was a life-long member of Rogers Community United Methodist Church and reigned as the oldest member of the current congregation. She is survived by a loving granddaugher, Venice McNair (Jimmy); devoted nieces, Jean Hamilton, Patrice Hamilton and Felicia Gillyard; Special cousins, Catherine and Jamie Mosley and Angelia Gilley; Goddaughter, Suzanne Stubbs; Adopted sons, George Douglas and Cleveland Pearcey; and many other sorrowing relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at Westside Funeral Home, 204 7th Street West, Palmetto, Friday, August 23, 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 24, 11:00am, at Rogers Community United Methodist Church, 1100 15th Street, East, Bradenton. Westside Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
