Death: Jan. 9, 1915
Iowa, USA

"The remains of Rev. W.R. Barnes, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. Patterson, Fort Madison, Iowa, Saturday were brought to this city yesterday afternoon for internment. They were taken at once to the home of his sister, Mrs. Howard Henry at 602 North Main Street, where funeral services will be held this morning at 10:30 o'clock, with internment at Forest Cemetery. Mr. Barnes was born and reared in Adair County and spent nearly all of his life in Kirskville and vicinity. He was regarded as a splendid Christian gentleman and held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He visited relatives here and at Brashear about a month ago, and although he was in bad health, his death came as a surprise and shock to his many friends and relatives here. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. E. Patterson, where he died; three brothers, Dr. F.M. Barnes of Brashear, A.W. and C.W. Barnes who live in Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Howard Henry of Kirksville, and Mrs. H.B. Thompson of El Paso, Texas."
