Grace Louise (Lewis) Adkins was born in Cambridge, Maryland on November 30, 1914 to Clarence and Grace Lee (Phillips) Lewis. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1933. She married the late John Eldridge Adkins on April 17, 1938, who passed away on January 17, 1989. She worked as a presser at Rob Roy for five years, Dorchester County Home Extension Services for five years, and Airpax for eight years. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and canning vegetable from her garden, crocheting and quilting in her spare time, and spending time with her family. She volunteered for the Salvation Army, and was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ.
