Bertha Anna Emma Beyer, 90, a former Palmer resident, died after a lengthy illness on Friday, February 22, 1985, in a Pasadena, Calif., hospital. Private family services were held Monday in Pasadena.
Miss Beyer was born Jan. 17, 1895, at Grand Island, the eldest daughter of Carl and Bertha Zillmann Beyer. The family moved to Palmer in 1915. She was a longtime employee of the McGonagle's store and lived in Palmer until the 1940s, when she moved to California. She operated a restaurant in California until retirement.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Merle [Mary] Page of Grand Island and Mrs. Howard [Clara] Winkler of Covina, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews including Mrs. Frances Beyer Spencer of Grand Island; Mrs. Carol Page Tilson of Omaha; Gen. Donald Evans of Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Jonene [Winkler] Giandomenico of Covina, Calif.; and Marion C. Beyers of Horseshoe Bend, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Carl, John, Walter, Charles and William, one of the Palmer youth to die during WWI; and three sisters, Esther Reade, Emma Beyer and Rose Foster.
