Kenneth Wellington Alford was born on 2 June, 1895 in Brooklyn, NY to William Madison Alford and Maria L. Alford. His siblings were Alice, Thomas K., William R., and Donald C. Alford. In 1900 the family lived at 306 Park Place in Brooklyn.
By 1917 Kenneth was 21 and a student at Princeton University. He was described as single, caucasian, of medium height and build, with dark brown hair and eyes. He applied for an exemption from military service during WWI on the basis of having had polio.
In the 1930 census, Kenneth was 34 and listed as single. He was working as a broker of stocks and bonds and was staying at a hotel on Hicks Street in Brooklyn.
On his WWII draft registration card Kenneth stated that he was self-employed and worked at 175 5th Ave. in New York City. He gave his residence as 814 Lexington Ave., NYC, NY.
