Lois Virginia Anderson had a passion for teaching children. After 88 years on earth, she went to Heaven, Thursday, July 21, 2011.
Lois was born May 9, 1923, in Arp to the late Otis and Sallie Wood. She married LeRoy M. Anderson in 1944. Lois began her elementary teaching career for Tyler Independent School District, retiring in 1984. Her career spanned 26 years. Lois was a wonderful and devoted teacher at Jones and Rice elementary schools. In 2002, she was honored as one of the 120 Heroes of the 120 years of Tyler ISD. She served as president of Tyler Classroom Teachers Association, was awarded life member of PTA by Rice Elementary School, life member of Texas Retired Teachers Association, member of Zeta Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for 46 years, member of Tyler Woman's Forum, Baylor University Women's Council, and was a Baylor Alumni by Choice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lower School Library, The Brook Hill School, 1051 N. Houston, Bullard, 75757.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Sterling House, Park Place and Hospice of East Texas for their care. Also, words of thanks to the physicians of Trinity Clinic and Dr. Royal Becker at Mother Frances Hospital.
