Luther Farmer's Last Rites Slated - Services for William John Arthur, 76, retired Luther farmer and pioneer state resident will be at 2:30; p.m. Sunday in the Luther high school auditorium. Burial will be in the Luther Cemetery under the direction of the Baggerley funeral home of Edmond. Arthur died Friday at his home. He had lived in Luther the past 48 years. Born in Texarkana, Ark., Dec 14 1881 he came with his parents to Oklahoma in 1889 and they homesteaded a farm a mile north of Lake Hefner. Arthur had for years been a participant in Oklahoma State Fair competition, entering from 1907 until 1956 when his health failed. Often a blue ribbon winner with his con exhibits here, he also won three national championships.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha, of the home; a son, W. R. Arthur, Luther; a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Vogel, 4328 Woods drive, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
