Shirley Jane Underwood Auchard, 91, passed away December 16, 2010 in Springfield, IL.
She was born May 20, 1919 to Courtney N. and Lila Chalfant Underwood on their farm in Atchison County.
She and Oliver C. Auchard Jr., were married in Athens, GA, in 1942.
She is survived by two sisters, Hope Underwood, Sun City, AZ, Gail Grill, Denver, CO, and by four children, Gary Auchard (Martha), Leavenworth, KS, Judy Floyd (Ted), Lees Summit, MO, Janet Blain (Les), Springfield, IL, Brent Auchard, Topeka, KS along with ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver C. Auchard Jr., one son, Oliver C. Auchard III, two grandchildren and her brother, Courtney Underwood, Jr.
Funeral services will be at Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. December 21, and the memorial service at 10 a.m. December 22. Burial will take place in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Atchison, KS following the service. Donations may be made to American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
