Joanie was my best friend since 1983 when I met her at a bus stop near where we both attended college, right after my twin sister died, and we lived through a lot together. She suffered from terrible domestic abuse; almost every man she had in her life treated her badly, physically and mentally abusing her. She was always the hopeless romantic and still believed in love even after all that she endured.I know how much she loved me; I loved her too, like a sister, even though she chain-smoked and never stopped talking and drove me crazy...I knew that I was her rock. I am not too stable myself, but I always gave her all I had, and I beleive that I was a good friend to her. Her death is such a shock to me. She died when her house burned down and she could not get out. Her precious cat, Althea, died in the fire, too. I miss her so much already. But Joanie, you are free now and I pray that your soul is at peace. At least you finally get to meet my Lisa. She will be a good friend to you. I love you, Joanie.
