Birty Delmer Brown was born September 23, 1872, in Augusta, Maine, but lived nearly all his life in Woodruff.
He married Betsey Maybell Dean on June 8, 1902, in Woodruff, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on March 26, 1919. They lived just outside of Woodruff on a ranch for several years and also ran a small store in town.
Birty was elected the first mayor of Woodruff in 1935. He served for two-four year terms. He and his wife May were very much interested in the progress of Woodruff and were largely responsible for the incorporation of the town in 1935. They also were instrumental in getting the culinary water system from M.V. Eastman ranch to the town in 1935.
He passed away December 15, 1961 and is buried in the Woodruff Cemetery next to his wife.
