On December 17, 1840 Alonzo married Elizabeth Treble Stewart in Jackson County, Missouri. She was the daughter of David Stewart and Elizabeth Larrison Stewart.
The Missouri Boone family appears to have kept a pretty low profile during the Civil War. Of the family members that I have in Missouri, their names do not come up in the conflict around Jackson and surrounding counties. Only James Madison Boone, Alonzo's cousin who was his dad Daniel Morgan Jr's brother Jesse Bryan Boone's son, was found to be one of the rebel soldiers arrested in Callaway County where they were slave owners, and sent to Gratiot Prison where the Taylor and Vaughn women were.
In 1870 Alonzo and Elizabeth can be found in Boone Twp, Bates County, with only Elizabeth Delilah still at home, (she married William Brummett the following year), accompanied by her maternal grandfather David Stewart and young Richard B Vaughn, who was the son of Thomas Vaughn and Nancy Jane Wills Gray Vaughn. Thomas had been hung by Union soldiers in 1862, and Nancy Jane died in early 1865 during the arrests of the women and children and burnings in Jackson County.
Thomas Vaughn was the brother of Dan Vaughn that was known as one of Quantrill's Raiders. All of the Taylor and Vaughn women and children lived next to each other and were close, and were testified against by certain other neighbors who bore false witness against them to keep themselves out of trouble with the Union Army. The testimonies to the Adjutant General are all preserved and a matter of record.
So the Boones were there for them, but with a low profile. This Alonzo's son David Ewing Boone wound up marrying one of the Taylor women who had been arrested, Sarah Lurena. Sarah's sister is thought to be the mother of Dan Vaughn's daughter Mary Lee Vaughn, that was raised by Sarah's mother Lydia, who was also among the imprisoned women. David and Sarah Boone and their multiple connected families moved from Missouri to Woodson County, Kansas after Alonzo and Elizabeth had passed on.
Alonzo was the grandson of the famous pioneer Colonel Daniel Boone.
