|Birth: ||Oct. 2, 1905|

Nellie Boone was born on October 2, 1905 in the farming community of Pleasant Grove Township, Greenwood County, Kansas to Edward H Boone and Leann (Sowder) Boone of Greenwood County. Pleasant Grove was outside of Neal, Quincy, and not far from Toronto, Woodson County.
Nellie married Marion Ashlock, April 21, 1924. She died at 19 years old of typhoid fever at her home in Quincy. She had an infant daughter at the time. My great-grandmother Lula Bell (Key) Taylor tended to the typhoid victims at that time, riding (side saddle) on her horse from house to house. (She was also the local midwife.) When my great-grandfather Will Taylor (nephew of David and Sarah Lurena (Taylor) Boone would get home from work at the MO-PAC Railroad Station, he and a buddy would ride in the buckboard and pick up the dead at all of the houses Lula would report had lost family members that day, and work into the night burying them. (They also played at the dances of all of these folks when they got married, etc.) So Nellie's death was especially poignant to my family.
Nellie was the 3xgreat-granddaughter of the famous explorer Colonel Daniel Boone, by his son Daniel Morgan Boone and the great-granddaughter of the early Missouri pioneers Thomas and Lydia Taylor of Jackson County, through their daughter Sarah Lurena (Taylor) Boone, who were victimized by Union troops in order to use them as pawns to get at the Bushwhackers and Quantrill Raiders.
