Robert Earl Chitwood

Robert Earl Chitwood age 90 of Winfield, Tennessee passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Born in Scott County, Tennessee on May 29, 1921 he was son of the late Robert B. and Edith Smith Chitwood.

Robert was a member and deacon of Zion Baptist Church.

He worked many years as a timber cutter and in the sawmill.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by infant son, Sterling Chitwood; brothers, Pershing, Austin, Paul and Eugene Chitwood; daughter-in-law, Etta Chitwood and grandson, James Robert Chitwood.

Robert was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Lillie Dingus Chitwood; two sons, Archie Chitwood, Jimmy Chitwood and wife Connie; one daughter, Shirley Davis and husband Jerry all of Winfield; six grandchildren, Mike Chitwood, Kim Gayheart and husband Tim, Harvey Chitwood and wife Kerri Jo, Travis Chitwood, Sylvester Davis and wife Patricia, Mary Cross and husband Derek; ten great-grandchildren, Jason, Christy, Sydney, Jacob, Savannah, Jacob, Caleb, Hannah, Josh and Jimmy; six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Geneva Pocholec of Dallas, Oregon; two special nieces, Sharon Strunk and Karen Keeton. He also leaves many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Chitwood family on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 5 p.m. until time of funeral service at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Campbell and Bro. Bert Burchfield officiating.

Graveside service will be on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Houk Trammel Cemetery.
