FR. GEORGE HOEHN was a pioneer German immigrant priest who brought Msgr. Martin Hellriegel and Seminarian August Mitsch from Heppenheim, Germany to the Archdiocese of St. Louis to work in German immigrant parishes as well as the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood Motherhouse. Hellriegel would be an international figure who would help develop and implement liturgical programs prior to and after the Second Vatican Council; Mitsch would helped found the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Starkenberg, MO, in mid-Missouri. (It is now a popular pilgrimage and tourist site for Catholics in the Midwest).
