Shirley Ruth Neprasch Brown, was born February 11, 1942 in Los Angeles, married December 2, 1966 to Melvin Orval Brown in South Pasadena, and passed away from complications of a stroke December 8, 2006 in Tampa, Florida.

Shirley was the elder daughter of George Grant Neprasch and Beatrice Viola Summerl Neprasch. She graduated from Arroyo High School in El Monte and earned her RN degree at Pasadena City College. Later she returned to school at Cal State Long Beach earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and worked as an interior designer/architect. Shirley was active in a number of organizations including the USF Women's Club, the Begonia Society of Tampa Bay, the Clarion Society, and the Sun Coast Native Plant Society as well as others.

She enjoyed drawing and painting in addition to maintaining her garden of over 300 different types of plants. Along with her sister she spent many years exploring and documenting her family history.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin; sister, Martha (Eric) Faith; brother, Thomas (Irma) Neprasch; niece, Nicole (Steve) Gutzke; nephews, Jermy (Niva) Faith, Colin (Jennifer) Faith, and Christopher Neprasch as well as two great nephews and three great nieces.
