[MORE THOROUGH BIO COMING---]
My friend and support for almost 18 years, I adopted Schatzi (German for 'sweetie') from a 'kill' shelter. This means that had she not been chosen by someone, she would have been euthanized. She was was a stray, so no one knew her history, except that she was estimated to be about one year old. She was classified as a Himalayan, although probably not pure-bred, and soon after she came to her new home, I took her to the vet to get spayed. She had developed a respiratory infection plus fleas, both from the shelter she had been staying at. The poor thing had to be given baths, and given pills, all while feeling terrible, and in the middle of a very traumatic experience.
Schatzi did eventually show her haughty, controlling side, and I was extremely relieved to see it. Only in her later years did she deign to cuddle; however, she had her own side of the bed whenever possible, and was spoiled whenever possible.
