New York, USA
|Death: ||May 31, 2006|
Nina Donna Agresta, a resident of New Rochelle, passed away on May 31, 2006 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on October 3, 1936 in the Bronx to the late Anthony and Anna (Indovino) Siragusa.
She was a product of the New York City school system, where she excelled and graduated as salutatorian from DeWitt Clinton High School. After again achieving salutatorian status from Mount St. Vincent College, where she was president of her student council, she attended Florida State University on a math fellowship. She returned home in 1954 and obtained a teaching position at Albert Leonard Jr. High School, where she met her husband, Frank.
Leaving teaching to become a full-time mom, she had three children, Pat, Tony, and Maria. In 1965, she and her family moved to Spring Valley, where she renewed her teaching career when her youngest child became a firstgrader. This time, her chosen field of endeavor was art, her long time passion, which she practiced as an artist and muralist. She taught in the Spring Valley school system for twenty-five years, retiring on her 55th birthday.
After contracting cancer, she was cared for by her daughter Maria in a most loving and compassionate manner. Her son Pat, who lives in Florida, came home frequently to add physical and moral support to the family. She was truly a great teacher, an absolutely wonderful mother, and a superb wife. May God look after her always.
Memorial Services were held Sunday, June 4 at 60 Baraud Road South, Scarsdale.
