Jason "Bird" Herman Abney, 31, husband of Chrissy Carter Abney, and son of Rich and Linda Abney Conaway, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, at St, Joseph Hospital. Jason was a native of Jessamine County and a graduate of West Jessamine High School. He was an employee of Helmsdale Apartments,a member of the Citizen Embergency Response Team who volunteered with the Nicholasville Police and Fire Departments, a volunteer for Angel Food, and the Salvation Army. He was a friend and helper to all who needed him. Bird loved playing X Box, sitting on the couch with Chrissy to watch TV with their friends, and skating through the kitchen on the hardwood floors. In addition to his wife Chrissy to whom he was married to for 9 years and his parents he is survived by 2 children Brianna and Lucas Abney, maternal grandparents Mary Wilson and Carl Herman Abney and paternal grandparents Harold and Myrtle Stevens, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and best friends Ray Cochran and Kim Harrison.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Sat., March 3 at 1:00 PM at Maple Grove Cemetery. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Ray Cochran, Craig Carter, Gerald Abney, Brad Persley, Gary Abney, Anthony Abney, Mark Foley, Rodney Whitaker, Brian O'Hop, and Clay Spradlin. Honorary bearers will be Daniel Dailey and Barry Hartman. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of departure to Maple Grove Cemetery at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. funeral home obit
