Thelma Allen, formerly of Piedmont, MO, passed away on March 2, 2012, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, MO. Thelma was born February 25, 1934, to the late Charles Henderson and the late Floy (Allen) Henderson, in Patterson, MO. She was raised in the Lake Creek Community. On February 13, 1954, she was united in marriage to Clifford W. Allen, of this union four children were born.

Thelma was a member of the Clearwater United Baptist Church. In 1943 she was baptized by W.W. Handy at New Liberty in Patterson. For a time she played piano for the New Liberty Church. She attended a one room country school house at Greenhill and Liberty Hill and completed the eighth grade. Thelma enjoyed cooking and baking, and was known for her chicken and dumplings and cinnamon rolls. Thelma was an avid vegetable gardener and enjoyed canning her harvest. She enjoyed crocheting and really enjoyed beating the boys at Pitch.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Billie and Bobbie Lee Henderson; two sisters, Bonnie Henderson and Velma Street; one grandchild; and one great- grandchild.

Thelma is survived by one son, Bryan Allen of Fisk, MO; three daughters, Beverly Wasson of Marshall, MO, Brenda Ireland of Warsaw, MO, and Nancy Darlene Allen of Piedmont, MO; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A visitation was held Sunday, March 4th, 2012, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. A funeral service was held Monday, March 5th, 2012, also at Ruegg Funeral Home chapel, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Bob Webb and Jerry London did officiate the ceremonies. Pallbearers were Matt Allen, Brady Doss, Cody Doss, Richard Allen, Frank Henderson, and Charlie Wilcut. Interment followed at Little Lake Cemetery, Patterson, MO.
