Richard Thomas "Dick" Schatz, of Woodbine, departed this life for eternal rest September 11, 2006 in Westminster.
Born in Maryland February 21, 1935, he was the son of the late George Frank and Margaret Pearl Lapole Schatz.
Mr. Schatz had owned and operated Schatz Power Equipment Inc. and had been active at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Eldersburg and St. Michael's Catholic Church in Poplar Springs.
He and his wife hosted the annual Memorial Day family get together at their home. Like his father, he was also a winemaker, and took up the mantle of contributing his home made wine to the Schatz Thanksgiving dinner.
He was a generous, kind and happy man.
He was the husband of Shirlee Temple Schatz, his wife of 52 years, and surviving, in addition to her, are sons and daughters-in-law Timothy Schatz of Sykesville, Jay and Lisa Schatz of Frederick, David and Barbara Schatz of Union Bridge and Matthew and Susan Schatz of Littlestown, PA; daughters and sons-in-law Kimberly and Wayne Sharpe of Sykesville and Robin and James Rude of Westminster and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by granddaughter Kristen Schatz; brother Wallace; sister Mary Wall; sister-in-law Hope Schatz ;and brothers-in-law Bob McCormick and
