An early Saturday morning one-vehicle accident has claimed the lives of two Ripley teenagers, Diana Johnson, 19, and Chris Blackmon, 18. Tippah County Sheriff’s Department said that Diana the teens were in a 2006 Chevy Malibu when the driver, Johnson, lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree, instantly killing both teenagers who were wearing seat belts.The Ripley Police Department and the Ripley Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.

Christopher Deon Blackmon Jr., 18, went on to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13, 2014.
He was born on August 28, 1996, in Columbus, son of Christopher Deon Blackmon Sr. and Nia Rolinda Colom. He was a member of Terry Street Church of Christ in Ripley.
Christopher was a 2014 graduate of Falkner High School, where he was a starting wide receiver for the Falkner Eagles Football Team. He was later selected to play in the All State Northeast Mississippi All Star game. Christopher was a full-time college student at Northwest Community College studying physical therapy.
Christopher was a very well-mannered and loving young man. His smile pierced your heart. He passionately loved football. He challenged himself to complete his education and one day own a physical therapy rehabilitation center.
He is survived by his mother and father, Nia Rolinda Colom of Ripley, and Christopher Deon Blackmon Sr. of Ramstein AFB, Germany; a sister, Khirsten Blackmon, of Kaiserslautern, Germany; four brothers, Bryce Blackmon and Jordan Blackmon of Ripley, Tristan Simmons of Selma, Alabama, and Jaylen Blackmon of Baltimore, Maryland; grandparents, Dr. Roland and Linda Colom of Ripley, Clarence and Sherron Haymer of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Robert Purnell Jr. of Winona; uncles, aunts, cousins and many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, September 19, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Ripley High School Event Center. Service will be Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Ripley High School Event Center. The body will lie in repose two hours prior to service.
Services entrusted to Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley.
