Philo H. Allyn was the son of Abijah Allyn and Katharine/Catharine Hooper Allyn. On Jan 25, 1849, he married Sarah A. Welborn in Posey Co., IN. They had seven children: Virgil, Mary E., Joseph W., William C., Julia A., Charles H., and Nora. In 1857, Philo purchased land near Rochester, Andrew Co., MO. and bought more land there in 1868. During the Civil War, he served as a private in the Andrew Co. Batt. About 1877, Philo moved to Chicago, IL, but he returned to Missouri by 1880, this time living in Independence. In 1883 he was living in Kansas. By 1885 he had moved to Plum Creek (now Lexington) in Dawson Co., MO. He died in Lexington in 1888.
Nora died in childhood and was buried in a family graveyard in Andrew County, MO. Her brother Joseph died as a young adult and was buried there as well. The location of their graves is not known.
