William Wylie Benson was born in the state of Indiana June 24, 1862, and departed this life June 12, 1945, at the age of 82 years, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ethel Koenig in Billings, Mo., following a lingering illness. On Oct. 3, 1893, he was united in marriage to Miss Addie Jones, who preceded him in death 14 years ago. To this union were born seven children. One son, Robert L. Benson, passed away at the early age of 30. Mr. Benson had long been a resident of Aurora and its vicinity and had formed many friendships that he valued highly. His early boyhood days were on the plains of central Kansas but the greater part of his life had been spent in the Ozarks. He served as an officer of the law in Greene county and at the age of 21 lost a limb in a railway accident at Dennison, Texas, while in the employ of the M.K.&T. Railroad. He professed faith in Christ at an early age and held steadfastly to it. He is survived by three sons, W.J. Benson of Oklahoma City, Okla., C.F. Benson of Wellington, Kans., and I.M. Benson of Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Koenig of Billings, Mrs. Adalene Gimlin of Yakima, Wash., and Mrs. Pauline Sweeney of San Diego, Calif.; one step daughter, Mrs. Viola Carsten of Minneapolis, Minn.; 18 grandchildren and five step grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Augusta Aton of Golden City, Mo.
