Doris Smith married James Elliott Ewing and had one daughter Marjorie Ellen-Braden-Swan. They divorced and she married Almon Dewey Mahan. From that marriage came daughters Violet Juanita Mahan-Eads and Barbara Joyce Mahan-Hook. In 1934 at the height of the Great Depression she became pregnant and had a septic abortion which led to peritonitis and eventual death. She left behind three beautiful daughters and a very distraught family. By all accounts she was a very sweet and gentle woman. She was a grandmother to many offspring she never met.
