Beverley E. Andrews, 90, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born in Elkhart, Indiana in 1921 the daughter of Clayton and Frontis (Gilbert) Mendham. She was a life-long musician, playing mainly the saxophone. In national competition as a High School student in Middlebury, Indiana she won the National Champion award. She played professionally after graduation, touring during World War II with a famous All-Girl Orchestra throughout the Midwest.

She met her husband, Reginald C. Andrews in a big band and their 26-year marriage produced three children: Gene, David, and Deborah. Gene Andrews and Deborah Engle survive her as do five grand-children and four great-grandchildren. Beverley was also a talented painter, specializing in landscapes, and was an artist-guild member in Elkhart and in Warsaw, Indiana.

She moved to Battle Creek in 1995 to be near her children. A memorial service is being planned by the family at a later date. Arrangements are by the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home.
